Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A notorious con couple from Indore, often compared to the infamous cinematic duo 'Bunty-Babli,' has been arrested in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, bringing an end to their long run from the law. Raja Raghuwanshi and his wife, Sonam, are accused of masterminding a large-scale job scam, cheating numerous people out of crores of rupees with the false promise of government jobs.
The couple allegedly operated a fraudulent enterprise under the name "Shine Today." Their modus operandi involved luring unsuspecting job seekers with the promise of lucrative positions within the Indian Railways. After winning the trust of their victims, they would collect large sums of money, reportedly ranging from lakhs to crores of rupees, before disappearing without a trace.
The investigation was triggered after a victim named Vikas Sharma from Gwalior filed a complaint with the Indore Crime Branch, stating that he had been defrauded of ₹8.5 lakh by the couple. As police delved deeper, the true scale of the scam was revealed, with victims spread across various locations.
While their victims faced financial ruin, Raja and Sonam allegedly lived a life of luxury, using the ill-gotten money to fund a lavish lifestyle. To evade capture, they constantly shifted their location across different states, making it difficult for law enforcement to track them.
The Indore Crime Branch, which had declared a reward for information leading to their arrest, launched an extensive manhunt. Using a combination of technical surveillance and a network of informants, they successfully traced the couple's location to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. A special team was dispatched, and the duo was apprehended.
Their arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case. The couple is now in custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of their criminal network and bring justice to their many victims.
