Leading automakers are gearing up to launch a wave of new electric cars, primarily focusing on the immensely popular SUV segment. These upcoming models promise impressive range, cutting-edge technology, and designs that cater to modern Indian consumers.
Here’s a look at six of the most anticipated electric vehicles set to hit Indian roads in 2025.
1. Tata Curvv EV
Leading the charge, Tata Motors is set to launch the Curvv EV, a stylish coupe-style SUV. Built on the advanced Acti.ev platform, this vehicle is expected to offer a certified range of 400-500 kilometers on a single charge, making it a strong contender in the long-range EV space.
2. Kia Carens EV
Targeting the family segment, Kia is electrifying its popular Carens MPV. While details are still emerging, the Carens EV is expected to leverage battery technology from Kia's global lineup, like the EV6. This move will provide a much-needed electric option for larger families looking for space and practicality without emissions.
3. Mahindra XUV.e8
Mahindra is electrifying one of its biggest successes, the XUV700. The electric version, named XUV.e8, will be built on the company's dedicated INGLO electric platform. It is projected to house a powerful 80 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated range of around 450 kilometers.
4. Maruti Suzuki eVX
In what is perhaps one of the most-watched launches, India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, will make its grand entry into the dedicated EV market with the eVX. This all-electric SUV is expected to be a game-changer, with reports suggesting two battery options and a top-tier model offering a range of up to 550 kilometers.
5. Hyundai Creta EV
Building on the runaway success of its combustion-engine counterpart, Hyundai is preparing to launch the Creta EV. By electrifying one of India’s best-selling SUVs, Hyundai is making a strategic move to capture a significant share of the EV market. The Creta EV will likely borrow its powertrain from the Kona Electric, aiming for a real-world range of over 450 kilometers.
6. Mahindra BE.05
Alongside electrifying its existing models, Mahindra is also innovating with its "Born Electric" (BE) lineup. The BE.05 is a futuristic, coupe-like electric SUV that also utilizes the versatile INGLO platform. This model is aimed at buyers looking for bold design and performance in a brand-new electric package.
