Indian Railways has registered a new record today i.e. on 6th August 2024. Today, OHE was successfully tested on the Pamban Bridge built by Indian Railways. After the completion of the works of the lift span mechanism, Southern Railway conducted a trial by running the OHE tower car on the newly built Pamban Railway Bridge, which was completed. This trial was done till Rameswaram station. Let us tell you that at the end of July last month, the installation of the center lift span was done on this new bridge. After this work, the work of laying the tracks was left, which was completed last week. The trial was conducted today after the tracks were laid on the bridge. Let us also tell you that after 2022, today the OHE tower car was operated on the Pamban bridge.

The Railway Minister gave this information

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself gave information about the trial on the Pamban Bridge through a tweet on his Twitter handle. Sharing the video of the trial, he wrote, ‘New Pamban Railway Bridge – a testament to the incredible capabilities of our engineers and technicians.’

The old Pamban Bridge was closed in 2022

Let us tell you that train services on the old Pamban Railway Sea Bridge were suspended in December 2022. The reason behind this was the vibration of the bridge. A team of experts from IIT Madras found in one of their monitors that there was excessive vibration in the bridge during the movement of the train. After this, the old bridge was closed for rail operations in December 2022.

Construction of the new Pamban Bridge started in 2019

The construction of the new Pamban Bridge near the old Pamban Bridge which was closed in 2022 started in the year 2019 itself. And now after the completion of the work, a trial was conducted on it today which was completed. According to the information received from the railways, after the success of the first trial run with the OHE tower car, more trial runs are likely to be conducted with freight carriers and empty coaches in the coming days.
