Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Iran is reportedly signaling a significant change in its foreign policy, suggesting a willingness to halt its hostilities with Israel in exchange for the resumption of international talks on its controversial nuclear program. This potential diplomatic opening could mark a crucial step toward de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, which recently teetered on the brink of a full-scale regional war.
The news emerged following a meeting in Oslo between Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani, and Norwegian officials. Norway has a long history of acting as a discreet mediator in complex global conflicts. According to a report by Amwaj.media, Bagheri Kani communicated that Tehran is prepared to de-escalate its conflict with Israel if meaningful negotiations over its nuclear ambitions are restarted.
This development follows a period of intense and direct confrontation. In April, Iran launched an unprecedented drone and missile attack against Israel, which was followed by a retaliatory Israeli strike. The tit-for-tat attacks sparked fears of a wider conflict, prompting urgent diplomatic intervention from the United States and other world powers.
By linking the cessation of hostilities to the revival of nuclear talks, Iran appears to be creating a pathway to ease regional tensions while also pursuing its long-term strategic goals. A return to the negotiating table could potentially lead to the lifting of crippling economic sanctions that have long hampered the Iranian economy. The United States has reportedly used a backchannel through Oman to urge Iran to de-escalate.
This diplomatic signal is especially noteworthy following the recent deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
