The story of the Governor vs Chief Minister in West Bengal is now taking a different turn. There has been tension between Governor CV Anand Bose and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on many issues in West Bengal. Allegations and counter-allegations have been going on, but what the Governor has announced now can increase this tension further. Governor Anand Bose has announced a social boycott of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Governor will boycott Mamta Banerjee socially.
Governor CV Anand Bose has made this announcement regarding the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape murder case. Bose said- “… In solidarity with Bengal society, I pledge that I will socially boycott the Chief Minister. Social boycott means that I will not share any public platform with the Chief Minister nor will I participate in any public event in which the Chief Minister is involved. My role as a governor will be limited to the constitutional obligations, which I have discharged about the Chief Minister. Nothing more than this, nothing less than this.”
What reason did the governor give?
The governor said that Mamata Banerjee failed to maintain the law and order situation in the state as the state’s home minister. Mamata Banerjee is also the health minister of West Bengal. Bose said that she has failed miserably in destroying the medical system in Bengal. The governor launched a scathing attack on the chief minister over the law and order situation in West Bengal and even called Banerjee “Lady Macbeth” and claimed that violence is taking place everywhere in the state. Lady Macbeth is the main character of William Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’. She is a very strong-willed woman but does not shy away from taking the wrong path to fulfill her aspirations.
