Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In the world of Bollywood glamour, some stories remain untold for decades. Superstar Aamir Khan just shared one of his own—a chilling memory from the 1990s when the industry's ties to the criminal underworld were a dangerous reality.
Speaking at a special screening for his son Junaid Khan's debut film, Maharaj, Aamir recounted a moment that tested his courage. He revealed that he was once invited to a party in Dubai hosted by an infamous and powerful underworld figure.
While many might have felt compelled to attend out of fear, Aamir made the difficult choice to stand by his principles. He politely but firmly turned down the invitation.
The decision, however, came at a cost: fear for his family's safety.
"I had to refuse," Aamir explained, "But I was very scared." His primary concern wasn't for himself, but for his young family at the time. "Mere do chhote bacche they," he said, recalling his thoughts. "I had two small children." (Referring to his son Junaid and daughter Ira).
This personal and courageous choice not to associate with criminal elements, despite the potential danger, was a real-life battle fought away from the movie cameras.
Aamir shared this powerful anecdote to draw a parallel with the theme of his son's film, Maharaj. The movie is based on the true story of a journalist and social reformer who bravely stood up against a powerful, corrupt figure in the 1860s. By sharing his own story, Aamir highlighted that the courage to do the right thing, even when you're afraid, is a timeless and vital human quality.
The revelation offers a rare and sobering glimpse into the off-screen pressures that stars can face, reminding fans that sometimes the greatest act of bravery is simply saying “no.”
