Ram Mandir Update: The arrest of suspected terrorist Abdul Rehman, who was planning a terrorist strike on Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, has caused quite an uproar. Gujarat ATS arrested him on Monday in Faridabad, Haryana. Abdul Rehman, the terrorist, had two hand grenades in his possession at the time of his arrest. Apparently, he was about to make a move out of Faridabad, but fortunately for law enforcement, he was apprehended in time. Following this arrest, the UP police have also taken action and a unit of UP ATS has been dispatched to Faridabad. The suspect is likely to be interrogated by the UP ATS team.
"Ram Nidhan Mandir" was his focus.
The terrorists' target Ram Mandir was assigned to the arrested Abdul Rehman. As per the reports, Abdul Rehman had links to Pakistani ISI, as well as some radical groups. He had previously conducted a reconnaissance of the temple and was set to execute plans for an attack. Abdul Rehman, who was captured from Faridabad on 4th March, had also links to AQIS (Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent). Rehman had communications with Abu Sufiyan, one of the most wanted terrorists. Abdul used a banned social media platform to reach out to Sufiyan. Freedoms, as well as hand grenades, were placed under his command by Abu Sufiyan.

In Faridabad, Abu Sufiyan through his middleman, had concealed two hand grenades with detonators in a deep pit. Abdul Rehman withdrew them and stashed them in a bag. Abdul Rehman was ordered to make his way back to Ayodhya on the 4th of March, but he was intercepted by ATS Gujarat and Haryana STF on the 2nd. In his questioning, it was uncovered that Rehman is also skilled in crafting desi pistols.
How Abdul Rehman Became a Radical
Abdul Rehman, during his interrogation, claimed to be skilled in making country-made pistols. The accused had in possession two mobile phones which had videos of surveillance of some unique religious places and material that incited violence to a specific religion. In media claims, Abdul Rehman radicalized after being exposed to religious videos on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, which later on made him a part of the terror network. Ashamed of the support of the terrorism network, he was captured with a train ticket from Ayodhya Cantt to Delhi Junction of March 1, 2025, which confirmed his visit to Ayodhya. Other security agencies like ATS, STF, and many more are currently working to uncover the whole module with Abu Sufiyan.
The suspect lives in Ayodhya.
Ayodhya is the home of 19-year old Abdul Rehman. Abdul traveled by train from Faizabad to Faridabad, where his handler gave him the grenades. After that, he was supposed to return to Ayodhya to complete his mission. However, terrorist plans are often intercepted by security agencies and, in this instance, they had prior knowledge of his intentions through tip-offs. Gujarat ATS along with Faridabad STF came to the city and apprehended the suspect here. Who are his accomplices? These are the questions right now for the security agencies. There is an entire network of criminals that needs to be uncovered, and the authorities affected are working to discover who all his accomplices are.
