5th March, New Delhi: The size of the gap in the corporate world can slowly be narrowed as Vedanta Group's Hindustan Zinc Ltd is working towards having a 30% employee base of women by the year 2030, and they are pleased to announce that they are on track to achieving this target.

The company estimates its workforce today includes more than 25% women employees. This further strengthens Hindustan Zinc's commitment to gender inclusivity in the sectors of Metals, Mining, Heavy Engineering which usually have a predominance of the male workforce.

The firm claims to employ India’s first female underground mine managers and has established the first and second all-female underground mine rescue teams in the country. “Our vision is ambitious yet simple – to increase this level of women representation by 30% in the next five years,” the spokesperson said.

Located in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Hindustan Zinc is India’s largest and the world’s second integrated zinc producer. The company is also the third-largest silver producer in the country.
