Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The city of Kolkata is grappling with a shocking and deeply disturbing case after a fifth-year law student bravely came forward to accuse the son of a prominent hotelier of brutal rape and assault. Her detailed account, which has since gone viral on social media, describes a terrifying ordeal that allegedly took place inside a five-star hotel, sparking widespread public outrage and demands for justice.
A Harrowing Account of the Alleged Attack
According to the survivor's complaint filed with the police, the incident began on a Saturday night. The student, who knew the accused, Anish Loharuka, met him at a pub before they went to a luxury hotel in the city. It was in the hotel room that the night allegedly took a horrific turn.
In her statement, she alleges that Loharuka subjected her to a prolonged and violent sexual assault. She recounted being physically brutalized and held against her will. Highlighting the psychological terror she endured, the student stated that the accused repeatedly threatened her, warning that he would "destroy her and her family" if she ever dared to report the incident, citing his family's powerful connections.
Despite the threats and the trauma, the student managed to escape the hotel room. She immediately contacted her family, who supported her decision to take legal action.
Police Action and a High-Profile Arrest
Acting on her complaint, the Phoolbagan police station, under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, registered a First Information Report (FIR). The police launched an investigation and moved swiftly to apprehend the accused. Anish Loharuka was arrested and has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape and causing grievous hurt.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the high-profile status of the accused, whose family has extensive business interests in the hospitality sector.

The case gained national traction after the survivor shared a detailed post about her ordeal on Instagram.
