Haryana Power Crackdown: Property Seizure Action Plan Activated as Panipat Arrears Cross a Staggering Rs 101 Crore!

Post

In a major enforcement drive that has sent ripples through defaulting consumers, the Haryana Government has unleashed an aggressive action plan against chronic electricity bill defaulters. Following strict directives from Union Power Minister Manohar Lal and Haryana State Energy Minister Anil Vij, the power corporation has initiated a zero-tolerance recovery sweep. With total outstanding power arrears in Panipat alone rocketing past a monumental Rs 101 crore, authorities are shifting from standard warning notices to severe legal consequences, establishing a massive crackdown on unpaid utility dues across the district.

Leveraging the Land Revenue Act for Forceful Seizures

In an unprecedented move designed to break the gridlock of non-payment, the state energy utilities are no longer just disconnecting power lines. The government has officially authorized the implementation of the stringent Land Revenue Act to recover outstanding amounts from individuals holding dues exceeding Rs 1 lakh. Under this hardcore legal framework, electricity bill defaults will be treated directly as land revenue tax evasions. This specific status empowers the administration to bypass routine civil courts and systematically attach, freeze, or completely auction the immovable properties, homes, and lands of chronic defaulters.

Preparing the Files for Swift Legal Forfeiture

The structural wheels of the recovery engine have already begun turning rapidly within the Panipat circle. Superintending Engineer Dharma Suhag revealed that final red notices have already been served to all major default connections. Over 150 high-value default cases have been meticulously prepared, with more than 113 files already forwarded directly to local Tehsildars to initiate immediate attachment proceedings. While approximately 7,000 high-risk consumers have been pinpointed across the district, the corporation is simultaneously moving the High Court to aggressively dissolve existing legal stay orders on seven disputed properties to ensure zero escape routes.

Zero Tolerance for Power Theft and Summer Disruptions

This sweeping financial enforcement coincides with a massive statewide campaign targeting unauthorized electricity usage and direct grid hooking. Defaulters caught in illegal tapping schemes are being handed one absolute final window to settle their accumulated fines under the Land Recovery Act before facing criminal prosecution and property forfeiture. As the state navigates peak summer consumption, the Ministry has coupled this strict recovery drive with strict grid stability mandates, ordering ground crews to replace faulty urban transformers within two hours and rural units within four hours to maintain uninterrupted supply.
