Departing right on schedule at 7:40 AM from platform number three, the eco-friendly train carried 30 passengers on its journey toward Sonipat. Platform operations have now permanently shifted to platform three from platform one, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi originally flagged off the historic service on July 17. The 89-kilometer journey between Jind and Sonipat takes exactly two hours, stopping at key intermediate stations including Jind City, Pandu Pindara, Lalitkheda, Bhambheva, Isapur Kheri, Butana, Khanrai, Gohana, Rabra, Lath, Mohana, and Barwasni. Commuters from Bhiwani Road and Rohtak Road are heavily favoring Jind City station over the main junction to save a 5 to 6-kilometer commute, averaging 35 to 40 passengers daily. Beyond zero-emission green technology, the hydrogen train provides massive financial savings for daily travelers; while direct public buses from Jind bus stand are extremely limited and charge ₹90 (often requiring transfers at Gohana), the hydrogen train ticket costs just ₹25, offering an ultra-affordable, comfortable, and sustainable transit alternative.
Weekly Operating Schedule: 6 Days Of Commuter Service With Friday Maintenance At Shakur Basti
To maintain peak mechanical performance and safety, Northern Railway has established a fixed operational timetable for the hydrogen train service. The train operates six days a week, running Monday through Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, while remaining out of service every Friday for routine technical maintenance at the Shakur Basti yard in Delhi. On active operating days, the train departs Jind Junction at 7:40 AM, arrives in Sonipat at 9:40 AM, and begins its return trip to Jind at 10:40 AM after a brief one-hour layover, ensuring a seamless, eco-friendly transit connection across central Haryana.
