IMD Issues Heavy Rain And Thunderstorm Alert For Haryana, Punjab, And Delhi-NCR Till August 4
The monsoon spell is staging a strong comeback across northwest India, bringing much-needed relief from humid conditions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a comprehensive five-day weather alert. According to the latest bulletin released on Friday, a low-pressure system currently centered over central Vidarbha and south Madhya Pradesh is driving active monsoon conditions westward. This active weather pattern is expected to trigger widespread rainfall, lightning activity, and gusty winds ranging between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab through August 4.
IMD Forecast And Regional Heavy Rainfall Alerts
Meteorological officials have predicted continuous wet spells accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across the northern plains. Isolated pockets in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are slated to receive heavy downpours from July 31 through August 3. Meanwhile, neighboring Punjab is expected to witness heavy spells between August 1 and 3, following intense showers in select localized areas. The active weather system is also extending its reach across wider north-western and central zones, bringing widespread rain alerts to Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and eastern Rajasthan through the first week of August.

The revival of robust monsoon activity is directly linked to the shifting low-pressure system that initially formed over East Vidarbha and West-Central Chhattisgarh. Moving progressively in a west-north-west direction across Madhya Pradesh, this atmospheric system has sustained moisture-laden winds from regional water bodies into the northern landmass. Experts note that these favorable weather dynamics will maintain active precipitation levels, helping bridge any rainfall deficits and bringing pleasant temperatures to urban and rural districts alike.
