Parthiv will play a dual role in the support staff led by head coach Ashish Nehra. A statement issued by the franchise said that Gujarat Titans is happy to announce the appointment of Parthiv Patel as its new assistant and batting coach. This former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman will add the experience of his 17 years of glorious career to the team. Gujarat Titans is preparing for the upcoming season of IPL and in such a situation, Parthiv’s batting technique and ability to prepare strategy will play an important role in enhancing the skills of the players.
Won titles for Mumbai Indians
Parthiv Patel retired from cricket in 2020. This will be the first time he will play the role of coach in the IPL. He was working as a talent scout for Mumbai Indians for the last three seasons. He was also the batting coach of MI Emirates in the first season of ILT20. He has experience, which can be useful for the Gujarat Titans team.
Played more than 100 matches in IPL
Parthiv Patel has played for Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, RCB, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He also won the IPL trophy for the Mumbai team in 2017. He has scored 2848 runs in 139 IPL matches, including 13 half-centuries. Apart from this, in his 17-year career, Parthiv played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and some T20 matches for India.
