Amit Shah inaugurated Gorakhpur Junction’s new non-interlocking yard system on the 12th of April, 2025. This was the start day of an Indian Railway works plan which is expected to go full steam ahead until May 3, 2025. With this new change, a low level synchronized clock will be added to the terminal to improve trains timing. This is drastically going to slow down their travel speed by 22 days.
Moving on, over a hundred trains saw their schedules canceling services during the non-streamlined phase of the operation. A fair chunk of both suburban and express trains servicing the terminal were wiped clean too and we were able to track most of them: the links connecting Gorakhpur with Maharasthra, Bihar, Gujarat, Punjab and West Bengal saw services go missing.
As part of the large group of cancelled services, these eons-old trains join the ranks as well, start boarding:
- Jananayak Express (15211/15212)
- Lucknow-Patliputra Express (15034/15033)
- Purvanchal Express (15047-15052)
- Gorakhpur-Ranchi Express (18630/18629)
- Champaran Satyagraha Express (14009/14010)
- Janseva Express (14617/14618)
- Vaishali Express (12553)
- Maurya Express (15027/15028)
- Many Gorakhpur Cantonment - Narkatiaganj passenger services
Take a look for yourself at the attached documents so you can pick on which trains’ numbers and effective cancel dates you want from the long list.
Trains Rescheduled or Running on Revised Timings

Passengers Advised to Check Train Status Before Travel
Authorities of the railway have advised passengers to double-check train timings and routes prior to traveling during this time period. The yard remodeling work is pivotal for the efficiency and safety of operations at Gorakhpur Junction in the long run.
To track the train in real-time, the NTES app and the official website of Indian Railways are greatly encouraged.
