Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer who's also a BJP leader, has been allegedly threatened with death by a group calling themselves “ISIS Kashmir.” His office stated that he went to the Delhi Police on Wednesday to file a complaint and sought additional security for his family.

Delhi Police Investigation in Progress

Following the complaint, Delhi Police began a detailed investigation. Officials confirmed that Gambhir is already under…”police protection,” however no further information was provided. Authorities are, however, assured that every possible step is taken towards ensuring the safety of him and his family.

Threatening Emails Details

As per ANI, Gambhir was sent two threatening emails on April 22, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening. He stated both contained the unsettling phrase “IKILLA".

Not The First Instance

Reports claim this isn't the first time Gambhir has received such threats. One such email was purportedly sent to him in November 2021.

Context Alongside Recent Affairs

The death threat comes shortly after the recent Pahalgam terror attack that caused national outcry. After the incident, Gambhir expressed his condolences through social media saying, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike."
