Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a landmark achievement for local farmers, a 1,200 kg shipment of Uttar Pradesh's world-famous Dussehri mangoes has been sent directly to Dubai. This marks the first time a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) from the region has bypassed middlemen to export its produce internationally, signaling a major boost for the state's agricultural economy.

The celebrated, geographically indicated (GI-tagged) mangoes were sourced directly from orchards in the renowned Malihabad belt, a region synonymous with high-quality Dussehri mangoes. The initiative was spearheaded by the Nawab Farmer Producer Company, a collective of local farmers who have now gained direct access to lucrative global markets.

After being sourced, the mangoes were carefully processed and packed at the integrated pack house in Rahmankheda, Lucknow, which is approved by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). From there, the consignment was dispatched via air cargo from Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

This successful shipment is a significant milestone, empowering farmers by enabling them to take control of their supply chain and increase their profitability. Officials from APEDA and the UP State Agricultural Marketing Board (Mandi Parishad) have hailed the event as a major success for the state's agricultural export policy.

According to Dr. C.B. Singh, a senior official at APEDA, this direct export by an FPO is a testament to the growing capabilities of local farming communities. By eliminating intermediaries, farmers can now secure better prices and build direct trade relationships. This inaugural shipment is expected to pave the way for more FPOs in Uttar Pradesh to export a variety of local fruits and vegetables to the Middle East and beyond.
