LU Fee Reduction for International Students: From now onwards, Lucknow University will admit foreign students to professional courses at half the fees. To increase the number of international students, LU has aimed to increase enrollment by reducing fee structures by almost 48%. This includes the B Tech, BCA, and BBA courses.

Most currently enrolled foreign students are opting for traditional courses offered at LU. This has resulted in less balanced enrollment across the institution’s offerings. The decision is meant to prompt foreign students to enroll in professional courses. It has also been sanctioned in the meeting of the Finance Committee of the University.

What will now be the new fee structure for foreign students?

Last year, the fee for foreign students enrolled in B Tech was set at 2500 US dollars. It has now been reduced to 1500 US dollars per semester. In the same breath, the fee for BBA and BCA was previously set at 2300 US dollars. It has now been adjusted to 1200 US dollars per semester.

Nevertheless, this fee is still more than double when compared to Indian students. In all courses, foreign students do incur higher fees. By lowering the fees, there will be an uptick in the enrollment of foreign students for the technical and professional courses offered at the university.

B.Tech ke liye seats ki sankhya

The university has a total of 480 seats for the B.Tech program which is offered in 6 streams. These include Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. University spokesman Durgesh Srivastava noted that the said fee change will be implemented from this session.

LU's foreign students enrollment trend

The count of foreign students at LU has been increasing steadily every year for the past five years. Because of this, applications are increasing annually as well. This year, 2379 candidates from 76 countries have applied for admission in various courses offered at LU.

What is unique is the fact that this marks the highest number of applications received in a single year. In the previous year, 1769 candidates submitted their applications. This figure is compared to the numbers of 1365 for the 2023-2024 session, 814 in the 2022-2023 session, and 637 in the 2021-2022 session.
