Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Ahead of the Noida International Airport's launch in approximately three months, construction work is set to start at the Hindon civil terminal. Air India Express will launch its flights from there to primary locations on March 1 and 2.

The airline will also add Kolkata, Goa, and Bengaluru to its commercial flight network. While Hindon will function as the transfer airport between Kolkata and Goa, there will be a direct connection to Bengaluru. Air India Express, which is part of the Tata group subsidiary Air India, will operate these routes daily, said Umesh Yadav, director of the Hindon civil terminal.

According to a report in the Times of India , each airplane is expected to have a capacity of more than 180 seats. All locations are active for booking.

Among the services provided by the airline, there is a morning flight from Kolkata that is two hours long, arriving at Hindon at 9:30 am. Subsequently, it will take off to Goa and arrive at 1:15 pm. The flight from Goa shall depart at 2 pm and reach Hindon by 4:40 pm and finally, head towards Kolkata at 5:20 pm. The flight from Bengalurur is set to be operational as of March 2, where the flight will commence at 12:40 pm and arrive at Hindon by 3:15 pm.

Further, the flight back to Bangalore from Hindon will depart at 3:45 pm and reach at 6:35 pm, effective immediately.

This increase in services was enacted following GMR’s legal wranglings to have them curbed brought by GMR. DIAL petitioned the Delhi High Court in October 2023 claiming that the commercial activities at Hindon airport were bound to have detrimental consequences on the viability of IGI Airport, particularly when Noida airport was about to become operational. Nonetheless, on January 7 the court dismissed the petition by DIAL and the plan to enhance services from the Hindon terminal was implemented.

Atul Garg, a member of parliament from Ghaziabad, noticed that the Civil Aviation Ministry provided an annual aid loss of Rs 60 crores because the Hindon airport was not fully utilized. He remarked, “We’re in the process of expanding connectivity to Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Ayodhya by coordinating with a few airlines.”

He further elaborated, "The cost of a one-way trip from Hindon to Kolkata will be between 4,851 and 5,743 rupees, while a goa ticket will range from 4,975 to 6,235. Achieved objectives indicate financial aids losses will be mitigated."

And while speaking about dealing with booking service, he also stated, “While the cost of the ticket will depend on the traffic, passengers will be able to book a Hindon-Bangalore flight within the price range of 6196 to 19626. Air India Express has diverse booking systems, such as Xpress Lite, Xpress Value, Xpress Flex, and Xpress Biz that vary in terms of flexibility, free baggages, and pre-booked seated positions."

Hindon is served from Flybig Airlines and Star Air from the center, which operates on the UDAN scheme, to Nanded, Adampur, Bhatinda, Kishanganj, and Ludhiana.

With Air India becoming the third carrier to serve this point in interest, Indian airlines plans for expansion should be more realistic now.
