Maharashtra CM On Tesla: Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, was present at a program on 7 March 2025 where he stated that ‘Maharashtra is the most ideal place for Elon Musk’s electric vehicle firm, Tesla, to invest in not just India, but all of the world.’ Furthermore, he claimed, “We anticipate that tesla will come, if they ask us. ‘We shall tell them that Maharashtra can prove to be good for investment’ ”
India to have the first Tesla showroom
Fadnavis’ comment comes at a time where there are claims of Tesla finalizing the location for their first showroom in India. Reportedly, the CEO and founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, has accepted the unveiling of the first Indian outlet in the city of Mumbai.
Lease Period of 5 years Signed for this deal
According to the report, Tesla's first showroom in India will be established in Maker Maxity Building of Bandra Kurla Complex. For this, Tesla has signed a 5 year lease from 16 ,February 2025, in which the rent will be paid for the first year of 41,054,000 rupees. The space they will be renting is 372 square meters, the size of a basketball court.
Statement made by the Chief Minister regarding the economy of Maharashtra
Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis said during his speech, that his government will boost the Maharashtra economy and 'Make it a 1 trillion dollar economy by the year 2023'.
As per his statements, Maharashtra is the only state in the country with an economy exceeding 500 billion dollars. Additionally, he noted that Mumbai has been emerging as the center for startups in contrast to Bengaluru.
