Earthquake tremors felt at many places in Punjab, loss of life

Earthquake tremors were felt on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border on Sunday morning. The effect of which has been seen in many areas of North India including Delhi. Its intensity on the Richter scale is 5.2.

Mild tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. Earthquake tremors were also felt in many parts of Punjab and Haryana.

According to the National Seismological Center of India, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred near Faizabad, Afghanistan on Sunday morning.

 

The agency said the epicenter of the quake was 79 km south-east (SE) of Faizabad in Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at 11.19 am at a depth of 220 km from the surface.

Let us tell you that earthquake tremors were also felt in Srinagar and Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. Some social media users said that a 6.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and other cities of Pakistan.

On Friday, a strong earthquake struck Tokyo and other areas of eastern Japan, but no tsunami warning was issued. The US Geological Survey said the 6.1-magnitude earthquake was centered at a depth of 44.5 km off the east coast of Chiba Peninsula.
