Delhi AQI Today: The winter mornings and evenings in Delhi have begun to trouble the residents. Yet, a considerable number of people are still hesitant to bring out their warm clothes. If you’re one of them, it’s time to take precautions. The coming days are expected to bring significant changes in the weather, with dense fog and a sharp drop in temperatures likely to make the chill more intense.

Air Quality Continues to Deteriorate
On Tuesday, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category. Experts have warned that due to changing wind patterns, the air quality could deteriorate further, reaching the ‘severe’ level within 24 hours. Notably, none of Delhi’s 39 air quality monitoring stations recorded the air as ‘severe’ on Tuesday, though the situation remains critical.
Current AQI Status
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 343 as of 4 PM on Tuesday, slightly better than Monday’s 349.
- Least Polluted Areas: Areas such as Vasant Vihar, Mayur Vihar, and Ghazipur reported the lowest pollution levels in the city on Wednesday.
Experts Predict Worsening Air Quality
Skymet Weather Services predicts that Delhi’s air quality could further worsen over the next 24 hours. The shift in wind direction is expected to push the AQI into the ‘severe’ category once again, posing serious health risks for residents.
What Should You Do?
- Wear appropriate winter clothing as temperatures are expected to fall further.
- Minimize outdoor activities, especially during early mornings and evenings when pollution levels peak.
- Use air purifiers indoors and wear masks outdoors to mitigate the impact of poor air quality.
- Stay hydrated and consider consuming warm, nutritious foods to strengthen immunity during the winter months.
As Delhi gears up for colder and foggier days, the combination of dropping temperatures and poor air quality makes it imperative for residents to stay prepared.
