The government of Delhi has instructed school principals to ensure that the admissions for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories are done through a computerised system of drawing lots without manual interference.

According to the Directorate of Education’s (DoE) circular on 27th February, “The admission process for EWS, DG, and CWSN children for private unaided recognised schools at the entry-level classes (Nursery, KG, and Class 1) is a computerised process and the drawing of lots is also done by the computer.” The circular further stressed, “There are no steps in this procedure where any manual interference can occur.”

The department also warned against individuals/entities attempting to solicit or deceive for admission under these categories, it stated.

“It is made known to the general public that these statements are false, public is warned against taking any action with these unlawful dares,” it remarked.

Moreover, the DoE called on the public to provide any data or grievances regarding said activities to its email and suitable legal action will be pursued.

The circular further instructed all private unaided recognised schools to cut any formal or informal ties with these individuals, organizations or institutions.

The quote states, "If any school is found to be involved with such practices, the Directorate of Education shall take the most severe action against them."

Any questions or grievances pertaining to the admission procedures were directed by the department to the guidelines and notices on the official website of DoE or the corresponding helpdesk number, as the circular noted.
