Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A court in Delhi gave the National Investigation Agency (NIA) the green light to procure the voice and handwriting samples of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, an alleged accomplice in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, on Thursday. Chander Jit Singh, Special NIA Judge, issued the ruling based on an NIA application which, as per the standard procedure, was accompanied by formal justification.  

Extradition and Continued Custody  

Known also as Dawood Gilani, David Coleman Headley’s longtime associate, Rana was extradited from the US after his appeal against extradition was struck down by the US Supreme Court on April 11. He was then subjected to an 18-day custodial interrogation, which was subsequently extended by another 12 days on April 28.  

With the courting conducting, NIA, in a bid to arrest the rana with all the relevant evidence and documents related to the 26/11 incident, had long bombarded him with all the possible evidential queries too, was his claim at the later stages of the shock. The document presented posed an investigative conundrum where it is plausible but where it stood ‘evasive’ as maintained during the free-flowing interrogative stage of the probe compelling straining Kama needing further examining mechanism and drawing custodial containment requiring continued interna eexamining probing form.
