Indian students have come under the scrutiny of the US government as their student Visa freezes keeps increasing with time. American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) states that out of the 327 student Visa cancellations in 2025, 163 accounted for Indian students. That’s nearly half.
A press statement issued yesterday by the American Immigration Lawyers Association is cause for concern to us in India.

AILA Alleged The Process is Capricious And Fails To Follow Basic Standards
In a statement to congress, Ramesh pointed out AILA’s claim stating the need and demand for the government to take action on Indian student’s issues imposing diplomatic interventions on the matter of disabled students which are affecting the visa policies.
Some Visa Policies Have Borderline Impossible Conditions While Others Don’t Justify Them
The report claims a void of more than one explanation for many cancellations of passports. The claim targets DOS and ICE screaming enough at all students from overseas, including those which do not even have history, have not associated politically with anything contentious.
Other National Students Suffer The Consequences
While the most dominant nationality caught up in this undue paperwork is Indian, AILA has also pointed out that China (14%), South Korea, Nepal and Bangladesh have had their Visas cancelled. Ramesh also stated that the intimidating climate and arbitrary consequences affect the pool of international students on a wider scale.
Urges Transparency and Aid Congress
The Congress party has sought to highlight and address gaps that exist within the US visa frameworks and especially the support available for Indian students wanting to further their studies abroad. The party emphasized that considering the current situation, there is a need for immediate and decisive action with regard to the US educational system and the employment opportunities available for Indians in the US.
