Three additional FIRs have been registered against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra in Maharashtra for allegedly making offensive remarks about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The comments were reportedly made during a live performance where Kamra used the term “gaddar” (traitor) in a parody targeting Shinde.
The cases, initially filed in various districts across Maharashtra, have now been consolidated and transferred to the Khar police station in Mumbai for centralized investigation, a police official told The Indian Express.
Complaints Filed by Public Figures and Businessmen
Among the complainants are:
The Mayor of Jalgaon
A hotelier from Nashik
A businessman from Nashik, according to ANI
These individuals have accused Kamra of defaming a public figure and inciting disrespect through his public performance.
Police Summon Kamra for Questioning
Mumbai Police confirmed that Kamra has been summoned twice for questioning but has not appeared so far. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are reviewing evidence related to the performance and public response.
The controversy stems from Kamra's recent appearance in Mumbai, where he sang a parody song that directly criticized and mocked former Chief Minister and current Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
