State Clears 360 New Mandis, Bringing Total to 3,100 Ahead of November 15 Kickoff

Post

In an agrarian milestone designed to streamline crop marketing and curb transit costs for cultivators, the Chhattisgarh government, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has sanctioned 360 new paddy procurement centers across the state for the Kharif marketing year 2026-27. This infrastructure expansion raises the total number of operational government purchase centers across Chhattisgarh from 2,740 to 3,100. By decentralizing paddy collection closer to agricultural heartlands, the administration aims to eliminate bottleneck delays, reduce long-distance grain hauling, and streamline mandatory weighing and grading protocols for farming communities before official state purchases begin on November 15, 2026.

Over Two Lakh Farmers to Benefit Directly from Decentralized Mandi Network

The strategic establishment of 360 additional procurement depots will directly support more than two lakh registered agricultural producers, delivering targeted relief to marginal and smallholders who historically faced heavy logistics costs moving produce to distant primary agricultural credit societies. By distributing vehicular footfall across 3,100 interconnected centers, the state food and civil supplies network plans to run moisture-level inspections, standardized electronic weighing, and administrative documentation concurrently. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that expanding regional mandis safeguards the dignity of agrarian labor, allowing farmers to offload their produce swiftly and return to seasonal field preparations without enduring multi-day queues.

Procurement Window and Systematic Trial Runs Slated from November 2 to 5

Under the declared state schedule for Kharif marketing season 2026-27, the comprehensive paddy procurement campaign will run from November 15, 2026, through January 15, 2027, catering to all verified and registered landholders statewide. To prevent software glitches and administrative snags, the state food department has organized a multi-phase dry run across all cooperative societies from November 2 to November 5, 2026. This trial period will stress-test network connectivity, token generation workflows, weighing scales, and moisture meters, ensuring that potential technical hitches are corrected ahead of active purchasing operations.

Digital Convenience: 'Tunhar Token' App Token Issuance Starts November 10

To eliminate offline crowds and manual paperwork at procurement yards, the state is deploying its flagship 'Tunhar Token' mobile application for the upcoming season. Through this digital utility, registered farmers can reserve customized date-and-time slots for offloading produce from their smartphones 24 hours a day without visiting society offices. The mobile token booking window officially opens on November 10, 2026, giving farmers five days of advance planning before the first tractor loads arrive at the mandis. Combined with automated bank transfers following grain intake, the digitized token ecosystem minimizes transit wait times and ensures fair pricing directly at farm gates.
