BJP leader burned alive in a Fortuner car in Chhattisgarh sand mining dispute, 3 people injured
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : A local BJP leader was reportedly burned alive along with his car in Korea district of Chhattisgarh following a dispute concerning sand mining. The deceased Bharat Singh Gaharwar alias Lalla Singh was on his way with three friends at the time.
A dispute over sand mining in Chhattisgarh's Korea district took a violent turn late Tuesday. In a shocking incident that occurred in Katgodi village of Sonhat tehsil, it is alleged that some people set fire to a local BJP leader who was present inside his car. Three others sustained serious injuries. The deceased has been identified as Bharat Singh Gaharwar alias Lalla Singh, a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Four people have been arrested by the police in the case. The police have lodged an FIR and a thorough investigation into all the aspects of the case is underway.
Police said that the incident took place around 11 PM on Tuesday night when Bharat Singh Gaharwar and his three friends were on their way to Navgai village on a Fortuner car. The alleged accused allegedly rammed their tipper car into the Fortuner numerous times, damaging the car. The attackers then allegedly doused the car with petrol and set it on fire.
The injured are being treated in the hospital
The people claimed that the doors of the car got jammed due to multiple ramming. The people in the Fortuner are also claimed to have been attacked by the attackers when they tried to break the windowpane and escape. Local BJP leader Gaharwar was killed on the spot due to burns, while the other three in the Fortuner were severely injured and are currently receiving treatment at Ambikapur Medical College.
4 accused arrested
Immediately after the information of the incident reached the Inspector General of Police, Surguja Range, arrived at the scene at midnight and took a report of the incident. The police have arrested four attackers, including Manoj Tripathi and Nishant Tripathi, while other accused are being identified. All the arrested attackers are also claimed to be associated with the BJP.
There was also a scuffle between both parties on Tuesday
In a preliminary investigation of the incident, it has come to light that the deceased Bharat Singh and the arrested Manoj Tripathi had a long-running feud over the sand business. According to sources, there was also a clash between both parties on Tuesday afternoon, which was informed to the local police station.
The forensic examination of the vehicle will be done by the police
According to a Bhasha report, "Officials said that the families of Bharat Singh Gaharwar and Manoj Tripathi originally belong to Nagoi village which is located adjacent to Katgodi village. Bharat Singh's family currently lives in Baikunthpur, while they run a sand mining and stone crushing business in Katgodi. It is said that members of both families had an altercation on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said that late in the evening after a phone call, Bharat Singh along with his accomplices had gone to meet members of the opposing side, following which the attack occurred." Some witnesses also claim that the attackers threw petrol into the Fortuner and set it on fire but it is not confirmed as the vehicle also hit an electric pole during the attack. Officials said forensic examination will be conducted to check whether fire was started by throwing petrol or by collision with an electric pole.
