The terror strike at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has brought the whole country to mourn. In the violent incident that took place on Tuesday, twenty-six people, almost all tourists, lost their lives. As the news broke, it created shock waves across the country and was received ranting from the public and celebrity figures.
Samay Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit comedian, couldn't hold back tears and expressed his grief on Instagram . Raina, who seemed to be deeply troubled mentioned “Unable to sleep tonight,” highlighting the heartbreak and pain he feels for the casualties in a place that means so much to him.
Victims Honored in Srinagar Ceremony
On Wednesday, casulaties for the victims were brought down to Srinagar. A formal wreath-laying ceremony took place at the police control room. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Srinagar for the day, participated in the event and while paying their last homage, Raina and the rest were filled with rage as the coffins were covered in broughtered wreaths.
Bollywood Mourns Victims of the Attack
Many Bollywood stars immediatley posted their outrage and condolences on social media accounts. Their shared messages showed support as well as outrage to the victim's families. Notable names like Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Sonu Sood, Janhvi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Mohanlal showcased their rage towards the attack as well.
Samay Raina's Recent Controversy Comes Back
As this story captured headlines, comedian Samay Raina was also in the news for some other reason. The Indian apex court was looking into a plea that said Raina was belittling persons with disabilities. This particular case was brought forward by the Cure SMA Foundation of India, which claims Raina made fun of a blind man and other people suffering from rare diseases like Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
A bench including Justices Surya Kant, and N Kotiswar Singh, entertained the issue and asked the petitioner to prepare a complete writ petition. This is in light of some ongoing matter concerning the podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia where similar issues were highlighted.
