Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a powerful new appeal for the widespread adoption of mother tongues across India, framing the continued dominance of English as a lingering "mentality of slavery" that the nation must shed.

Speaking at an event, Shah emphasized that promoting regional languages is not just about preserving culture but is a crucial step towards true intellectual and national independence. He argued that for too long, proficiency in English has been wrongly equated with intelligence and ability, a colonial-era mindset that holds India back.

Shah called for a comprehensive shift, urging that mother tongues be used as the primary medium in every sphere of life, including:

  1. Education: From primary schools to higher education institutions.
  2. Judiciary: In court proceedings and legal documents.
  3. Administration: In all forms of government work and communication.

He highlighted the Modi government's National Education Policy (NEP) as a key driver of this change, as it strongly advocates for instruction in the mother tongue at the foundational level. The goal, he explained, is to ensure that no child is at a disadvantage simply because they are not fluent in a foreign language.

By thinking, speaking, and working in their own languages, Shah argued, Indians can unlock their true creative and intellectual potential. He stressed that this push is not about opposing any single language but about giving our own languages the respect and prominence they deserve.

This renewed call is part of the government's broader effort to decolonize Indian thought and institutions, fostering a deeper sense of national pride and self-reliance.
