After being put in to bat, the Texas Super Kings were immediately on the back foot thanks to a bowling masterclass from Trent Boult. The New Zealand pacer tore through the TSK top order, finishing with exceptional figures of 4 for 20. His devastating spell ensured that the Super Kings could never build significant momentum. Despite a fighting 38 from Devon Conway, TSK were restricted to a sub-par total of 159 for 7.
In reply, MI New York's chase got off to a rocky start, slumping to 22 for 2 and giving TSK a glimmer of hope. However, that hope was extinguished by the arrival of two of T20 cricket's most formidable power-hitters, Kieron Pollard and Tim David.
