97th Academy Awards: One of the most anticipated events in Hollywood, the 97th Academy Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars 2025, was celebrated on the 2nd of March, 2025. The ceremony took place in the Dolby Theatre located in Los Angeles. Additionally, Bollywood was represented at the ceremony this year. Though this award night was already filled with entertainment and fanfare, Indian viewers got an additional treat when the host, Conan O’Brien, took to the stage and spoke Hindi. Shocking? Yes, but more surprising is the fact that it was unexpected for everyone.

While at the event, he was discussing his amusing experiences, when he suddenly switched to Hindi which made the audience as well the Indians watching on television stunned. 'Hello! You people are watching Oscars with breakfast,' he comically exclaimed. O’Brien’s intention was to say that it is morning in India and people are likely watching the Oscars along with their breakfast. He received a loud applause for his effort in the Hindi language, as it was quite impressive.
O'Brien started the event by speaking in Hindi
This certainly brought smiles for Indian fans. This is, without a doubt, a first as this is the first time an Oscar host has resorted to speaking in Hindi. The 97th Oscar Awards have opened in style, here at the iconic Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. The film that comes in with the highest number of nominations this year is ‘Emilia Perez’ which incurs 13 nods in various categories.
In this regard, ‘Wicked’ and ‘The Brutalist’ are also the frontrunners. This year’s competition will certainly be thrilling as there are great films to contend with.
