A loud blast occurred outside the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar's Shastri Market area around 1 am. The sound caused fear among residents, but no injuries were reported.

“I heard a loud noise while I was asleep. I thought it was thunder. Later, I learned that a blast had taken place. I sent my security personnel to report the incident. The police are checking CCTV footage, and forensic experts are examining the scene,” Kalia stated.

Police and Forensic Teams Begin Investigation

Deputy Commissioner of Police Manpreet Singh confirmed that a forensic team was present at the site and is collecting samples to determine the cause of the explosion. CCTV footage from the area is also being reviewed to identify those involved.

Senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, inspected the location. She said that an FIR would be registered, and a detailed investigation would follow. The area has been secured to prevent any further issues.

Previous Blast Incidents in Punjab

Authorities noted that similar explosions have occurred in recent months, including attacks targeting police posts in Amritsar and Gurdaspur. Just last month, an explosion was reported outside a temple in Amritsar.

Police have not yet confirmed the exact nature of the device used in this incident. Samples collected from the scene are being analyzed to understand the source and motive.
