Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A throwback video from 2016 has resurfaced and is making waves on social media, adding a new layer to the ongoing dating rumors surrounding actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala. However, the viral clip, which appears to show a candid moment between the two, is being widely misinterpreted.
The video is actually from the engagement ceremony of Naga Chaitanya’s brother, Akhil Akkineni, to fashion designer Shriya Bhupal, which took place in December 2016. At the time, Naga Chaitanya was famously with his then-fiancée, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was also present by his side at the event.
The edited clip circulating online shows Naga Chaitanya looking in a general direction, followed by a shot of Sobhita Dhulipala—also a guest at the function—enjoying her meal. Fan accounts have pieced these moments together to create a narrative suggesting a romantic glance, fueling speculation about their rumored relationship today.
In reality, the footage is simply a snapshot from a large, star-studded family gathering from nearly eight years ago. The re-emergence of this clip is a classic example of how old content can be re-contextualized to fit current celebrity gossip.
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who married in 2017, announced their separation in 2021. For the past couple of years, rumors have persistently linked Chaitanya with Sobhita, though neither has ever officially confirmed their relationship status. This viral clip, while a nostalgic look back, is not the "proof" of an early connection that some on social media are making it out to be.
