Kho-Kho World Cup 2025: Spectators will get free entry to the stadium during the matches of the first Kho-Kho World Cup to be held in India. Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI) and head of the World Cup Organizing Committee, made this announcement on Sunday in a media release. He said that the aim of this event is to inspire the new generation of the sport. Therefore, the entry to the stadium will be kept free for spectators in the matches of both men’s and women’s categories. Sudhanshu Mittal also informed that school children, who will come to the stadium to watch this World Cup, will also be provided snacks. This initiative will inspire spectators, especially the younger generation, to join this sport and will help establish Kho-Kho as a major sport.

Kho-Kho World Cup begins

The tournament will be held in India from 13 January to 25 January 2025. The matches will be hosted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi and the Noida Indoor Stadium in Noida. 21 teams will participate in the men’s category and 20 teams in the women’s category in this competition. The first match of this World Cup will be played between India and Pakistan. This tournament is a historic moment for Kho-Kho, as for the first time this sport is being presented as such a big competition on a global platform. Such events are of great importance to promote Kho-Kho, which is a traditional sport of India. This will not only provide an international platform to the players, but will also give the younger generation a chance to connect with this sport.

These teams will participate

The national camp for the Kho Kho World Cup for 60 men and 60 women players is currently underway at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Indian team for the competition will be selected from among these players. USA, England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil are among the teams that have confirmed their participation in the tournament. The competition will be held in a league-cum-knockout format for both men and women. Among the Asian countries, Indonesia will send only its women’s team, while all other countries will send their men’s and women’s teams.
