Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Lucknow, India – Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary has put an end to all political speculation, confirming that his party's alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not just for the upcoming national elections but a long-term commitment. In a significant announcement, Chaudhary declared that the RLD will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in partnership with the BJP.
This move solidifies his recent, high-profile switch from the opposition's INDIA bloc to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). By cementing the alliance for the crucial state polls, Chaudhary is signaling a major strategic realignment in Uttar Pradesh politics.
Speaking to reporters, the RLD leader went a step further by openly praising the governance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He specifically commended the state's improved law and order situation, a key talking point for the BJP government.
"Our alliance is here to stay. We will fight the 2027 elections together with the same energy and coordination," Chaudhary stated, emphasizing his confidence in the partnership. He framed his decision as a move to become a positive agent in the state's development, aligning with the "double-engine government" model—a term used to describe the benefits of having the same party in power at both the state and central levels.
Chaudhary's declaration serves as a direct response to criticism from his former allies, particularly Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, following his departure from the opposition camp. By endorsing Yogi Adityanath's administration and committing to a future together, the RLD chief is making it clear that his decision was a deliberate, strategic choice aimed at securing a role in Uttar Pradesh's future governance, not a temporary political maneuver.
The RLD holds considerable influence in the farmer-dominated belt of Western Uttar Pradesh. This long-term alliance is set to significantly bolster the BJP's position in the region for both the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the 2027 state election, while dealing a substantial blow to the unity and strength of the opposition in India's most populous state.
