As he heads a series of mass rallies aimed at curbing Donald Trump's political comeback, Bernie Sanders is in the limelight, garnering attention for his efforts. Sanders' "fighting oligarchy" tour, which garners the attention of tens of thousands at each stop, reflects deep anger towards corporate overreach, inequality, and political inaction from Democrats.

At his latest rally at Gloria Molina Grand Park in Los Angeles, Sanders attracted a record breaking 36,000 attendees alongside fellow allies such as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other labor leaders and musicians.

Despite the attendance however, Sanders still framed criticism towards certain billionaires like Elon Musk and Trump's plans to cut public funding and severely limit healthcare access. To many, Musk symbolizes the epitome of excessive private force interjecting into public affairs, and for this reason was the target of numerous jeers during the rally.

Supporters with Sanders chanted for higher wages, affordable housing, and cessation of political indifference. Frustrated blue-collar workers, artists, and teachers all stated that the rising inequality was a cause for great concern, adding that they feel as though they’re left in limbo by both parties. Along with middle-class Americans, the group described feeling as though there's a tangible erosion of democracy.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez called for class unity over partisan identity. This, along with several pro-equality features of the campaign hearkened to the struggles of many working and underclass families, even amongfrist-time conservative rally-goers terrified by Trump’s rhetoric of an impending third term.

‘Subordinate Group’ Integration, Political Blurring, and 2028 Prospects

Although Sanders is not expected to run in 2028, he continues to endorse independents in the younger progressive age brackets, with some eyeing Ocasio-Cortez as a potential future president. He also suggested using non-establishment party candidates to dissolve the existing political gridlock.

These rallies reflect a worrying shift toward authoritarianism class-based populist politics focusing on direct action, grassroots organizing, and unyielding inaction towards growing authoritarian agendas.
