All the five accused in the riots case in Maharajganj of Bahraich have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. In which five accused were arrested from Nanpara area on Thursday. This morning, they were to be produced in the civil court on Friday. For this, tight security arrangements were made in the court. But given security reasons in the civil court, the district administration and the Superintendent of Police talked to the CJM and got the accused produced at his residence. Five people including Abdul Hameed, Sarfaraz alias Rinku, and the village head husband of the village were produced in Judges Colony located at the city’s water tank. After this, all were sent to the district jail. Hardi police station in-charge Kamal Shankar Chaturvedi said that they have been jailed for 14 days. After this, he will be taken on remand.

Arrests were made yesterday, two were killed in an encounter

It is known that five accused of communal violence that took place on October 13 in the Maharajganj area of ​​Bahraich district were arrested by the police on Thursday afternoon after an encounter. Two accused were also injured in the encounter. The encounter took place in Hada Basehari near the Saryu main canal in the Nanpara Kotwali area on the India-Nepal border. UP Police Commissioner Prashant Kumar said that on October 17, Bahraich police arrested five people in connection with the murder of a youth in Maharajganj on October 13. These included Mohammad Faheem, Mohammad Talib alias Sabloo, Mohammad Sarfaraz, Abdul Hameed, and Mohammad Afzal. Bahraich SP Vrinda Shukla said that the arrested accused were trying to flee to Nepal. Sarfaraz alias Rinku and Taleem alias Sabloo were arrested by the police. On their information, when the police went to recover the weapons used in the murder, a ‘double barrel’ gun used in the violence was kept there and an illegal weapon was also kept there.

Action will be taken against all the accused under NPA.

SP Shukla further said that the accused opened fire on the police with the same ‘double barrel’ gun. The police retaliated in self-defense and shot Sarfaraz and Taleem. The remaining three accused Abdul Hameed, his son Faheem, and Mohammad Afzal were also arrested. Information about other accused will be gathered based on interrogation of all the accused and then they will also be arrested. Soon all of them will be caught. SP Vrinda said that police raids will continue in search of the remaining accused. If anyone is found to be involved in helping or protecting the accused, strict action will be taken against them. Action will be taken against all the accused involved in this incident under the National Security Act (NPA).
