Famed Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has shared with the public that he has migrated from Mumbai and is settled in Bengaluru now.

As a director and an actor, Anurag spoke with The Hindu, confirming his relocation by stating that “Bollywood has become very ’toxic’ and profit driven.”

Kashyap, who won accolades in doing negative character for Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maharaja, reveres the Southern film industry for their unexplored creativity. The Gangs of Wasseypur director is now busy with promotion of his Hindi version of Footage which was originally made in Malayalam.

Early in December, Anurag spoke about his moving plans, and how eventually, he does want to settle down south.

A scoop claimed that Anurag actually shifted to Bangalore, hoping to distance himself from the Hindi film industry, whom, as per the scoop, he referred to as fraternity.

“I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic, Everybody is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next 500 crore to 800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone,” Kashyap remarked during the interview with The Hindu.

Anurag further stated that it is harming the country’s creative environment, as people are fixated on attaining big box office numbers.

Anurag informed The Hollywood Reporter India, that he was quite ‘frustrated with the Hindi film industry’ and even wanted to move out to South India. 

Having received various accolades over his extensive career, Anurag Kashyap said attended, “a city is not just a structure but also its people. People here… they pull you down.” 

Anurag is now looking to immerse himself in other works such as a Malayalam-Hindi feature alongside a Tamil movie.
