Amitabh Bachchan sent out a tweet that simply read, “time to go,” which caught everyone’s attention. As it is a rather blunt statement, it had the potential to be sampled in a plethora of ways. Some wondered whether he was announcing a retirement from films, while others assumed he had quit his show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. A portion of the audience went on to express concerns about his overall health and well-being; so, in essence, this tweet had advertising potential Angela Lansbury or Vin Diesel.
Needless to say, the tweet did cause a lot of commotion in social media, with people Twitter and Instagram trying to form speculations and theories of their own. Most people were simply trying to understand what Big B was explicitly trying to say, while the rest were scratching their heads in oblivion trying to grasp what the entire message was surrounding.
The enigma was unraveled in the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, where Amitabh was asked about the fuss created by his tweet. In a teaser for the show, the legendary actor and cultured cake enthusiast, Amitabh, was doing a meet and greet when a fan comically told him to bust a move. To which Amitabh replied, “Kaun nachega? Arre bhai sahab naachne ke liye yahan nahi dhara hai humko.” The crowd wasted no time laughing.
The discourse now shifted towards his tweet. A curious admirer of his was inquisitive as to what he meant by ‘Time to Go’. A light-hearted Bachchan reverberated back, “Usmein ek line tha jaane ka samay hai... toh usmein kuch gadbadi hai kya?” This comment did wonders to ease everyone’s stress.
When another admirer offered, “Kahan jaane hai?” Bachchan in his classic offbeat sense of humour replied, “Jaane ka samay aagaya hai matlab…” Before he was able to conclude the sentence, the studio populated responded simultaneously, “Aap yahan se kahin nahi jaa sakte!”
In the end, putting the speculations to rest, Bachchan stated, “Arre bhai sahab, humko kaam par jaane ka samay aagaya hai… gajab baat karte ho yaar. Tell me, what other nonsense are blabbering? As for us, when 2 am rolls around and we get off work here, it’s around 1 to 2 by the time we reach home. Ab woh baith ke shuru hote hai aur so jaate hai, I’ll keep my writing here and voila, add 2 and 1 and goodnight.”
