The issue gained widespread attention after videos and reports emerged of Indian students being denied entry, held in poor conditions, and even handcuffed before being put on flights back to India from major hubs like Atlanta, San Francisco, and New York. The incidents sparked a significant public outcry in India and led to diplomatic engagement.
In response, the US Embassy posted a clear message on social media. While not directly addressing the specific allegations of mistreatment, the statement served as a strong reminder of US policy. "The US government will not tolerate illegal entry into the United States," the Embassy declared, stressing that all visa applicants must be truthful during their interviews and have all required documentation.
