Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The film will focus on the shocking firing of CEO Sam Altman and his equally surprising subsequent reinstatement. The decision, as many know by now, caused waves in the technology world. The script is being drafted by Simon Rich of Saturday Night Live fame, pointing towards a more light-hearted, almost comedic take on the serious business conflict.

In other casting news, Andrew Garfield is reported to be in talks to play Sam Altman. Monica Barbaro is rumored to play Mira Murati, the CTO who served as acting CEO during the tumultuous period. And Yura Borisov is said to be cast for the role of Ilya Sutskever, the OpenAI co-founder who became infamous for the internal strife he catalyzed.

Guadagnino will be directing the project, best known for his works Call Me by Your Name and Challengers.

The date in question is November 17, 2023. OpenAI’s board decided to fire Altman citing lack of trust in his leadership, to which the communit y responded with widespread confusion. Five days after intense backlash from employees and major investors, Altman was reinstated as CEO.

Artificial will document the dramatic week by combining corporate satire with humor. A single narrative approach with exceptional talent and a fresh perspective on the culture of Silicon Valley might make the film one of the most scrutinized tech dramas on the big screen.
