If cricket is regarded as a cultural religion in India, then drama is perhaps its most obedient servant. Just as we thought the celebrations for the Champions Trophy were dying down, RJ Mahvash decided to add drama to the story. She, who has garnered media attention for being supposedly intimate with cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, made a shocking statement: “Kaha tha na jita ke aungi. MAJOR luck for team India. What are you even talking about?”
Well, some were not impressed including TV actor Aly Goni. He didn’t spell it out, but his Instagram story on Monday did ruffle some of the fandom feathers. “Indian team ki aur coaches ki mehnat, nope. Mere pass social media pe by comment karne ka pura fuss banda ho jata hai ‘I am lucky’ You know,” he proclaimed. And just like that, the internet did what it does best—make things as sordid as possible.

Now that you look out for a glimpse into this bizarre affair the first RJ put out, I mean, RJ Mahvash has certainly been in the news for the entire saga which began during the Champions Trophy final which she attended with Yuzvendra Chahal. The internet exploded, and it wasn’t long before stories started normal circulation of speculation of the couple after Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma suddenly and without reason unfollowed each other on Instagram.
To further ignite the already blazing fire, Mahvash’s ‘good luck’ statement made netizens fume even further. Many labeled it as unnecessary, while a few accused her of brazenly using her ties with Chahal. On the other hand, Chahal also released a statement where he asked, with desperation, for people to cease the circulation of fake news as this had been causing a lot of pain to his family.
Dhanashree’s cryptic clawback
Just when it appeared like the internet was done for the day, Dhanashree decided to add some fuel to the fire. She unarchived her wedding images with Chahal and raised eyebrows—aren’t they supposedly trying to fix their marriage? And if that wasn’t enough, she went ahead and posted a rather indirect quote, “Blaming women is always in fashion.”
Pure coincidence? Maybe. Well placed clapback? Definitely.
As the internet continues to scrutinize each movement within this love triangle (or PR disaster?), one thing’s for certain, the drama is certainly not over yet.
