Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Ajay Devgn's latest action-thriller, Raid 2, has made its much-anticipated digital debut and is now streaming on Netflix. However, its release comes with a surprising twist that has left many South Indian fans disappointed.
While the film is available in its original Hindi language with subtitles, its audio options have raised eyebrows. Netflix has provided dubs in foreign languages, including English and Spanish, but has notably skipped dubbing the film into major South Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
This decision marks a significant departure from the current industry trend, where major Bollywood films are routinely dubbed to cater to the massive "pan-India" audience in the southern states. By prioritizing foreign language dubs, the streaming giant appears to be making a strategic bet on the film's international appeal over its regional Indian reach.
A sequel to the 2018 hit, Raid 2 sees Ajay Devgn reprise his role as the determined IRS officer Amay Patnaik. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, this installment pits him against a formidable new adversary, played by Riteish Deshmukh. Vaani Kapoor also joins the cast in a key role.
For now, audiences who understand Hindi or prefer watching with English subtitles can stream the thriller. However, the lack of regional dubs means a significant portion of the Indian audience will have to wait, hoping for a future update, or miss out on experiencing the film in their native language.
