Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appears to be embroiled in controversy over his statement. It is alleged that he mocked the existence of multiple gods in Hinduism. The BJP and BRS have demanded an immediate apology from him. According to reports, the Telangana Chief Minister was speaking at an event. During the speech, he mocked the existence of multiple gods in Hinduism and even went so far as to say that Hanuman is the god of unmarried people.
Reddy asked, "How many gods do Hindus believe in? Nearly three crore? Why so many gods?" He added, "They even have a god for unmarried people. Those who have married twice have another god. And those who drink alcohol have a different god." Revanth Reddy didn't stop there. He said, "There's another god for sacrificing chickens, another for eating lentils and rice. Every group has its own god."
Opposition demands
Revanth Reddy's statement has sparked a political uproar. The BJP and BRS have accused the Chief Minister of inciting Hindu faith and religious sentiments. BJP leader Praveen said that all Hindus in the state are feeling ashamed by Reddy's statement. He said that Congress and Revanth Reddy have no shame left. In every meeting, they claim that Congress is in trouble because of Muslims. The Chief Minister should retract his statement and apologize.
Meanwhile, BRS leader Rakesh Reddy said that mocking Hindu gods has become fashionable these days. He said that it is extremely unfortunate that Revanth Reddy speaks in a manner that hurts the sentiments of millions of Hindus. He should immediately apologize to the Hindu community.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Reddy has made controversial remarks about Hindu deities. Last year, while attacking the BJP, he said that those who beg with a photo of God are beggars, not Hindus. He said that God should be in a temple, and devotion should be in the heart. Only those who do this are true Hindus. Taking aim at the BJP, Reddy said that its leaders ask for votes by placing photos of God on the streets.
