Because of the tremendous crowd during the Mahakumbh authorities decided to suspend Ganga Aarti ceremonies at Varanasi riverfront ghats for the common public through February 5. Excessive crowds at Kumbh Mela made it impossible for numerous devotees to reach their scheduled trains. Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal asks the Kashi residents to assist the devotees currently visiting.

The total number of people performing holy baths at Mahakumbh 2025 reached 1.5 crore mark today
State personnel confirmed that 1.58 crore people immersed themselves in the sacred confluence of the Ganges on January 31. The total number of individuals who bathed at Triveni Sangam reached 29.64 crore prior to January 30. The Kumbh Mela spans from January 13 until February 26 this year.
The Prayagraj District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar denied the circulating rumor about vehicle restrictions in Prayagraj until January 31, and February 1, February 4 while the divergent plan remained only valid for February 2 and 3. Implementation of the divergence scheme will occur exclusively on February 2 and 3 based on his instructions. The rumor about vehicle restrictions lasting until February 4 received strong denial from the district official.
Social media users spread a false report which claims that vehicle access to Prayagraj remains banned during the entire period from February 4 up to February 3. This news is completely baseless. During the peak day of Mauni Amavasya the divergent scheme operated as the main approach. Police organizations have started eliminating the divergence scheme because most devotees have already left according to the police sources.
