SA vs PAK, 2nd Test: South Africa and Pakistan are playing a 2-match Test series. South Africa, which won the first Test match by 2 wickets, has tightened its grip on Pakistan in the second Test match as well. South Africa put more than 600 runs on the scoreboard in its first innings. In response, Pakistan was all out for 194 runs in the first innings. Pakistan resumed its first innings on the third day at 64 for three, but except for Babar Azam (58) and Mohammad Rizwan (46), no other batsman could make a significant contribution, due to which the team was forced to follow on.

Pakistan recovered after the follow on

After failing miserably in the first innings, Pakistan's opening pair gave the team a solid start after the follow-on. The pair of Babar Azam and captain Shan Masood shared a 200-plus run partnership for the first wicket and created a big record on South African soil. In fact, the pair of Babar and Masood has become the first Pakistani opening pair to share a 200-plus run partnership in Test cricket in South Africa. Earlier, no Pakistani opening pair could touch the 200-run mark. Earlier in South Africa, the record for the best opening partnership for Pakistan was held by Aamir Sohail and Saeed Anwar. Both shared a 101-run partnership in 1998.

India's 18 year old record broken

205-run partnership for the first wicket between Babar and Masood. On the basis of this excellent partnership, Pakistan also broke a big record of India which was going on for 18 years. The pair of Babar and Masood has become the Asian pair to make the biggest opening partnership on South African soil after 18 years. Earlier this record was in the name of India. India's Wasim Jaffer and Dinesh Karthik had a partnership of 153 runs for the first wicket in Test cricket on South African soil in 2007.
