President Droupadi Murmu, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, arrived at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Monday. She is scheduled to take a holy dip at the Sangam. Upon her arrival, the President, along with Yogi Adityanath and Anandiben Patel, took a boat ride and fed birds at the sacred site.

Warm Welcome at Prayagraj Airport

Earlier in the day, Governor Patel and CM Yogi welcomed President Murmu upon her arrival at Prayagraj airport.

President's Itinerary in Prayagraj

As per an official statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's day-long visit includes:

  • Taking a holy dip and performing Pooja at Sangam.
  • Offering prayers and Darshan at Akshayvat and Hanuman Mandir.
  • Visiting the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre to explore the cultural and spiritual significance of the event.

According to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, CM Yogi Adityanath will accompany the President as she offers prayers at Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple.

Sangam's Religious Significance

The Sangam is the confluence of three rivers—Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati. This sacred site holds immense religious significance for devotees and pilgrims visiting the Kumbh Mela.

Historical Precedent

Notably, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, had also taken a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh, continuing a tradition observed by many prominent leaders over the years.
