The English cricket board led by the ECB disclosed their first ODI XI to face India before the India-England ODI match series. India faces England for their first ODI match at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on upcoming Thursday February 6.

The renowned English cricketers Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone and other players in the team received attention after the addition of their star batter Joe Root. The star batter wanted to make his first ODI cricket comeback since 2023.

The cricket board likely applied this addition since England will compete in Champions Trophy 2025 and requires someone who can stabilize innings throughout the series. England captain Jos Buttler recently declared his excitement about seeing the 34-year-old Joe Root return to ODI cricket and emphasized the importance of Root to the team setup.

The current phase of his career brings me joy because we can observe his excellent Test performance without captaining the team—now he displays a happy grin while thoroughly enjoying his cricket. Buttler announced his expectation that Root will maintain his performance quality in the current ODI cricket match setting.

His extensive ODI experience will help guide the unexperienced members of our team group. The team depends heavily on his expertise which he showcases across cricket formats because his skill set will serve us well during these matches according to Buttler.

After their T20I series loss with a 4-1 scoreline Jos Buttler's team plans to win back success through three upcoming ODI matches which serve them as championship tournament preparation.
