India has yet to formally begin the process of acquiring advanced aviation platforms, according to Indian officials. Misri explained that such acquisitions typically follow a structured procedure, starting with a request for proposals (RFP), followed by evaluations of the responses before moving forward. However, he clarified that this process has not yet been initiated in India's case.
Speaking to the media after a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House, Misri stated, "This is currently at the proposal stage. I don’t think the formal process has started."
During the meeting, Trump announced that the U.S. plans to expand its military sales to India beginning in 2025, with the ultimate goal of providing India with F-35 stealth fighter jets. "We’ll be increasing military sales to India by many billions of dollars. We're also paving the way to ultimately provide India with the F-35 stealth fighters," Trump told reporters.
