
After securing a significant victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has scheduled an important meeting today. The meeting, called by the party's state president, will take place at 11 AM. Attendees include the state president, Delhi election in-charge, co-in-charge Alka Gurjar, newly elected MLAs, and other senior officials of the Delhi BJP unit.
This meeting is considered vital as the party prepares to announce the name of the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
Is the Name of Delhi's New CM Finalized?
According to sources, BJP is conducting these rounds of meetings to build consensus among MLAs before finalizing the CM candidate. Reports suggest that the party has almost finalized the new Chief Minister and is gathering feedback from MLAs while ensuring unity within the party.
On Tuesday, BJP National President JP Nadda held meetings with 20 MLAs, giving each one 10 minutes to discuss their opinions regarding the leadership.
10 BJP MLAs Met JP Nadda
Following the BJP’s victory, the party has started the process of forming the government. As part of this, 10 MLAs recently met with JP Nadda, making this interaction highly significant.
The MLAs who met Nadda include:
- Vijendra Gupta
- Rekha Gupta
- Arvinder Singh Lovely
- Ajay Mahawar
- Satish Upadhyay
- Shikha Rai
- Anil Sharma
- Dr. Anil Goyal
- Kapil Mishra
- Kulwant Rana
Among them, at least 3 to 4 names are considered strong contenders for the Chief Minister’s position.
BJP MLAs Met Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena
Before meeting JP Nadda, some newly elected BJP MLAs also met with Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Notably, winning MLAs like Pravesh Verma, Kailash Gehlot, and Arvinder Singh Lovely—who defeated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal—attended this meeting.
Additionally, on Monday evening, BJP President JP Nadda held discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence. Sources indicate that the conversation focused on selecting the next Chief Minister of Delhi.
When Will the New Delhi CM Take Oath?
According to BJP leaders, the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi's new Chief Minister will be held after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his foreign tour. Currently, PM Modi is visiting France and the United States.
In the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections, BJP secured 48 seats, while AAP won 22 seats. Congress failed to win any seats in this election.
